August Missions Update
Dear family and friends,
We've made it! Next week is moving week. I couldn't be more grateful for you. Thank you for following this journey, for praying, giving, and for the countless encouraging words. Know that you all are very much a part of this mission.
As summer is wrapping up and kids are going back to school, this feels like a very natural transition. I will miss being in person with my family and church greatly, but also look forward to the relationships that will be built in Panamá.
It is crazy to think that the next update will be from Panamá! The first few days will be spent getting settled, and I hope to begin language school in person by week 2. Look below for some of the ministry highlights of the last month!
We took a team of 14 people to serve our sponsored village, Las Sidras! Although COVID has changed the culture of the village, the biggest "win" was being present in Las Sidras for the first time since 2019.
The top left picture is of the medical clinic we hosted, where our team was able to see around 160 adults and children.
On the right is a picture of the Alvarez Family in the clinic. Alejandra (in the brown shirt), and Ingrid (not pictured), are two of the kids our family has sponsored.
Our team packed 210 bags of food for families in Las Sidras. Each bag contains corn, beans, oatmeal, and other food items to provide a month's supply of food for a family. Please pray for Pastor Danilo and his family, and the church in Las Sidras. Danilo is the pastor of our church there, and he and his family have endured much hardship as they seek to establish a flourishing church presence.
Pray that God would grow the church, bless their ministry, and continue providing for their family.
My teammate, Emily, and I spent last year leading a small group of high school girls at Journey on Wednesday evenings. It was incredibly special to have the student ministry pray for us on our final Wednesday night.Pray that God would allow many missionaries to be sent from Journey, and that he would prompt the hearts of students in our student and college ministry to go to the mission field!
It's been great spending time with family this past month. I even got to spend a few days visiting with my grandparents in Myrtle Beach, SC. I count it a blessing to have their support and would not be doing this without them. Please pray for my family as I make this transition. As God has called me to be a missionary, they have a unique calling as well - to be a missionary family. Pray for our strength and a growing connection as we adjust to missions life.
I am still building a team of monthly partners and am currently at 92% of my monthly goal! If you are interested, I would be honored to talk with you about joining my partnership team. Just click here!
