With the arrival of fall, my schedule filled with more opportunities to further my ministry. As some of you may know, a few months ago I was asked by my mission board to consider working in a new avenue called "Missionary Care." I am excited to realize I can use my past and present experiences to come alongside other missionaries and encourage them personally and in their work.
This new ministry of "Missionary Care" will officially be launched in January 2019. The Lord provided for me to attend a conference the first of October for several days in Asheville, NC. During this time I attended workshops and meetings which highlighted crucial needs of missionaries directly related to their care and well-being as they engage in cross-cultural living. I believe the task of refreshing the hearts and souls of those who carry the good news of God's love to the nations is essential in fulfilling the Great Commission. As missionaries are given opportunity to share and address their experiences, we hope to encourage longevity and productivity on the field as adequate resources and assistance are offered and/or provided.
This past week I participated in my home church's annual Mission Conference. Sharing my new ministry with my pastor and church family was a great experience with good feedback and lots of questions. Many encouraged me as they know my history with missions and even the difficulties my personal family is facing at present. My hope is that I will be able to use what I am going through to assist other missionaries who may have similar experiences of grief, thereby comforting others with the comfort we are given through the Holy Spirit.
Your prayers are vital to me. God's power is necessary to enable this ministry to be effective and useful. Please pray I can raise additional funds to engage in this full-time. Thank you for partnering with me through prayer and support!
By His Grace,
