Prayer Letter

Dear Friends and Supporters,

May the Lord be our joy and our strength as we live for Him. Whatever is going on in this world, we look to our Lord for guidance. We pray that this letter finds you in His grace.

Of course, the situation of this Covid pandemic has been quite a challenge for everyone. We continue with the ministry here in Lille, France. On Sundays, we have between 25 and 30 adults and around 20 children for our worship service. And there are a few more that join us on the internet. Then on Tuesday evening, we are between 7 and 10 to pray together through Skype and about the same number but slightly different people for the Thursday evening Bible study.

We haven’t been able to restart the get-togethers we were doing with our young teen-agers, nor has Judy restarted the ladies’ Bible study.  But the Lord has kept us busy in the ministry in spite of the Covid restrictions: two young women have asked Judy to do a personal Bible study with them over Skype and I’ve been doing a weekly discipleship course with one guy and pre-marriage counseling with a couple.  We’re both spending time with another couple in view of her baptism.  So, we praise the Lord for His open doors.

Please pray for the young teen-agers in our church family.  We feel their need to be spiritually fed more than just Sunday School, before they grow up more and then decide to follow the world’s way.  But a gathering of more than six people outside of Sunday morning doesn’t yet seem possible because of the covid restrictions. Pray for God’s provision for their spiritual needs.

Another blessing: two new women have begun attending our church over the last few months: Catherine, the mother of a Christian girl from the Paris area, and Sandra, a Brazilian woman with two young boys. Both women have prayed to trust Jesus Christ as their Savior!  Please pray for their spiritual growth.

The latest with my prostate cancer is that I had another biopsy April 22 and a PET scan May 3rd.  I will see the Radiologist on May 17th and the Urologist on May 19th.  What the radiologist proposed the last time that I saw him, was 4 weeks of radiation and 6 months of hormone treatment. We will see what they propose when we go for the appointments. Please pray that the Lord guide and give wisdom.

It has been almost three years since our last visit to the States and normally, we try to visit the States every three years. For the moment, we do not know what the travel conditions with Covid will be in the Fall and we do not know how long my medical treatments will take. So, we will need to attempt to make a decision soon on when we will be able to plan a trip to the States.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers.
