I Thank My God Upon Every Remembrance of You

Dear Friends and Prayer Partners,

“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭1:3-5‬ ‭
The Apostle Paul begins his letter thanking God for the Phillipians’ “fellowship (partnership) in the gospel from the first day until now”.  As we read this passage we are reminded of YOU, and YOUR partnership in the Gospel by way of prayer, financial support, your visits to Mérida, letters & cards, phone calls, texts and the many other ways you’ve encouraged this representing missionary family! Words cannot adequately express how grateful we are for your “Mission” heart coupled with your sacrificial, purposeful giving and encouragement!
As we read this passage, we are also reminded that these expressions of gratitude were common in first-century letters and as you know, the Apostle Paul regularly began his epistles this way. Yet the opening of this letter to the Phillipians is somewhat unusual, in that Paul focuses on God’s work in and through the Phillipian Christians rather than on the Phillipians themselves. And in like manner, we are reminded, and report to you with joy in our hearts, the work that God has done in and through the precious people here in the Yucatán Peninsula.

Our first VBS took place in July led entirely by the capable and great people of the Iglesia La Gracia Almendros III, one of the two churches! Carmen and I signed up as one of the volunteers and this awesome group took responsibility of the rest! We averaged just over 20 children a day for 5 days with a total of 29 different children during the week. After the VBS program and service that weekend 3 adults and 1 young man (who attended VBS) were saved!! It was a great step of faith and growth in the life of the church where God manifested Himself in a mighty way.

Our first Ladies Conference took place in July. In the initial planning we thought we might have approximately 30-40 ladies. Much to our surprise and God’s glory, we had 75 ladies 3 of which asked Christ to be their personal Savior and many made decisions affecting their personal walk with the Lord.  We were honored to have my mother Elaine Rogers, former missionary wife of 34 years, come and share a great part of her heart with these precious ladies.  In two 45-minute sessions she spoke of the Peace of God that passeth all understanding, the Forgiveness of God that He freely offers and in turn asks us to to extend to others and the Purpose He has for each and every one of our lives! It was an amazing evening that impacted many lives!

We hosted our first group of young people with a heart for ministry (church ministry in the US or world-wide Missions) this past August. It was awesome that all four were nieces and nephews! It was an honor to have them here and take them with us as we experienced missionary life, ministry training, culture, food, fellowship and some fun! When God called us back to the mission field, this was something He placed on our hearts. It was wonderful to see this part of ministry begin, and what better way to start than with relatives!

Our first training for bi-vocational ministry has started with 2 families, Efrain, Monica, and son Abner then also with Eric, Graciela and their children Jimena, Eric Jr. and Martha. This training starts with the entire family (at their request) going through 2 phases of discipleship, then continue with these 2 men and their wives in a more in depth and extensive training. We praise the Lord for answered prayer! Please continue to pray for more laborers, because the need is great and the time is short!

We are very blessed to be here and serve! God has continued to save souls and disciples are growing in their personal walk with Him!  We do not take lightly the privilege to partner with you and to represent you here in the Yucatán Peninsula. There still is much to do, many to be saved, and an incredible amount of training to be done and time is short!
Thank you for praying!! Thank you for your financial support!! Thank you for your texts, emails, phone calls, and encouragement!!

May God bless you all!
We remain, your servants in Christ,

I sincerely appreciate God for your obedience to serve God in this core ministry overlooked by many of us called Christians.
God has given it to me as a mandate to set out a day in praying for missionaries.
I pray that you all will not lose your GREAT REWARDS on the last day.
