June Missions Update
The past two months have been filled with planning, re-planning, scheduling, and re-scheduling. I'm learning that not all things are linear, and becoming a missionary is full of twists and turns. I can plan and re-plan, schedule and re-schedule, but the Lord directs my steps.
I'm comforted by His promise in Proverbs 16:9, that "we can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps." Preparing for this move has been an incredible trust exercise. If I trust God, then I shouldn't be shaken by the planning and re-planning. He's not surprised by it, and if a good and loving God is determining my steps, then there is nothing to fear. Thank you for praying me through these final few months in the states. I am learning how little I know and how much I have to learn. I am learning how much I will need to depend on God and not myself. I'm certainly green around the ears and am glad I've had Emily to help teach me veteran missionary tips! Rule number one is to always have your missionary prayer card in your pocket. You never know who will ask you for one when you least expect it - people on airplanes, people at the grocery store - Emily carries several and has saved me countless times! I'm sure I'll have other funny musings as I continue learning and hope to share them along the way. You have full permission to laugh with me! Thanks again for joining me in this mission. I'm so grateful for all who pray, all who give, all who check-in, and all who have set aside time to hear about the story and ministry! Check out the pictures below for a few updates over the months of May and June.
May & June Happenings
I've gotten to visit Arkansas a few times to see my brother, Robert, play college baseball for the Razorbacks. Getting to see him play and do what he loves brings me a lot of joy. It's been great spending time with family this way.
The past several months have been spent connecting with all kinds of different people from different walks of life. I've been encouraged by old high school and college professors, old friends from across the United States, extended family members, and even new friends! The scheduling and planning is more than worth the connections and conversations. Sometimes I even feel I'm becoming an extrovert!
The Next Few Months
The next few months will be spent moving out of my apartment, spending more time visiting family and friends, and finishing support raising. My aim is to be in Panama near the end of August. I am still building a team of monthly partners and am currently at 73% of my monthly goal! If you are interested, I would be honored to talk with you about joining my partnership team. PLEASE PRAY FOR:
- Time with family, friends, my sending church, and spiritual growth these last few months in the States
- Iglesia Bautista de Costa Verde - that the church would grow and that people would be discipled
- Spiritual growth and healthy churches for the Chinese immigrants in Panama
