Thank you for your patience with us getting out our monthly prayer letter. We were all brought down by a terrible summer cold, including fevers and coughs. Praise the Lord, we are all feeling much better.
Our month started out with a special treat. Papo, the young man that feels called to the ministry and is very involved with our church, was able to preach his first sermon for us on a Wednesday night. It was an encouragement to see many chairs full of family members and church members. It was uplifting to see how seriously Papo took bringing a message from the Lord to the congregation. He will start preaching more often when he receives more training but he is very eager to preach again. Please pray for Papo. He has a full plate with being a full time teacher, studying on the weekends to finish his degree, trying to find time to start his Biblical training, and now, recently engaged. We ask that you please pray that he has the wisdom to make the right decisions for his future to help him grow into the man God wants him to be.
Another special treat that we were able to enjoy this past month was the Lord's supper. As we have done before, we chose to have a family church dinner during service to bring the church closer together for this special event. We also invited many people from the town, as a homecoming service. We were thrilled to see some familiar faces join our service that night. Many people brought delicious dishes to pass and we enjoyed the sweet fellowship together as a family. Agustin brought a special message about the purpose of the Lord's supper and the children enjoyed a lesson about who was at the Lord's supper and why.
At the end of the month, we gave the children of our church a special treat. Since we are in the heat of summer, we used the last Sunday before the start of school to play water games. The lesson was about Jesus walking on water, so we used water as a great tool make the lesson alive to the kids and to keep the kids involved. It was a blast using water balloons, a parachute, a balloon launcher, and plenty of extra water. The kids really enjoyed learning about Christ in a refreshing, fun way and even the adults joined in after service was over. For an hour after service, everyone enjoyed eating refreshing watermelon and smiling over the fun they just had.
Our heart rejoiced to have a little girl named Alexandra join us for this special service. Her mother passed away a year ago and she now lives with her grandmother in another town. This specific Sunday she just happened to be visiting her father and was able to join us. Please pray for Alexandra, as her heart is broken from the loss of her mother. She does not completely understand her situation and is struggling to find peace. Pray for peace and most of all, salvation.
On a personal note, we are very thankfully for those who gave to allow us to put Isa in a school this year. She is overjoyed to be able to learn Spanish, so she can start making friends. We are so happy to see God provide for all our needs through you. Thank you! Please feel free to contact us via email or through our Facebook page at “Pruetts in Peru”. We have lots of photos on our Facebook page so you can see our ministry. Most importantly, we are ever so thankful for your support. We cannot do what God has asked us to do without you. Thank you!!
