Opportunities in Columbia - Karyn Conrad

Dear family and friends,

Just wanted to take a few minutes to share with you all about the wonderful blessing it was to go with one of my supporting churches to Colombia, South America this past week, March 20-27th.

After much prayer and counsel, I felt a peace from God about going on this trip. After committing to step out in faith and trust God for my financial needs, God provided everything above and beyond what I needed!

We went with the main goal to help establish a new church plant (Iglesia Bautista Independiente) in the area of Cartagena known as Boca Grande. Throughout the week, we were able to work along side the pastors and ministry leaders of many different churches to witness and pass out tracts informing the people of the new church plant.

We saw God work as we were able to share the Gospel with so many different people and 161 people accepted Jesus as their personal Savior! Praise God for His faithfulness! His blood still saves today!

We also had several opportunities to serve and be a blessing to the churches there. God allowed me the opportunity to teach a teen/young ladies Bible study as well as spend time learning how to better witness in Spanish. I taught on Romans 12:1-2 with a focus on becoming a living sacrifice for God. God really blessed and glory to God, 2 young ladies accepted Christ as their personal Savior!

At each church, we were also able to minister in song in both Spanish and English. We sang several songs including: Sublime Gracia (Amazing Grace), Porque El Vive (Because He Lives), Yo Me Rindo A El ( I Surrender All), and How Great Thou Art. It was so encouraging to see the passion that these people have to serve the Lord. Their fire to reach the lost with the Gospel was so evident even in the church services.

On Saturday, we had an extra-special blessing. God allowed us to visit a school and spend time with the children teaching them songs, sharing, and passing out clothes. One of the pastors was able to go with us and shared the Gospel with them as well.

In addition to all of that, another blessing was that God allowed me to deepen my relationships with the people there. Even though we are from different countries, with different cultures and languages, I felt so close to them through our common bond, Christ. As Christians, we have brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world. What a blessing to see how God is working around the world to accomplish His Great Commission!

If I could summarize the heartbeat of this trip in just one sentence, it would be this: The Gospel is the Center.

These Christians do not take the work of Christ lightly. They recognize the great responsibility that we have to reach the Lost before it is eternally too late. They take the time to share Christ any opportunity they have whether it be on the buses, on the streets, or in the churches etc. Christ and the Great Commission are the center of everything that they do!

As I was leaving, I asked God to break my heart for this lost world. I don’t want to live a life that is self-consumed and fruitless. I pray that you would also pray and ask God to become your heart’s passion and the heart-beat of all that you do.

Is He everything to you?

Is He your center?

I want to say a sincere thanks to everyone for your prayers and support. God is still working and the lost are being saved!

Reaching the lost,

Karyn Conrad
