One of the great joys of our ministry is the involvement in discipleship, mentoring, and training of ministry leadership.
In November, I taught the class of Soteriology (the doctrine of Salvation) to the Chattanooga class of 20 students who are currently enrolled in the Instituto Internacional de las Carolinas. The students in this class represent two Spanish churches in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The students are from Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Peru. From these classes we will see an increase of those who serve in our local churches; others will become future pastors and ministers while others may one day return to their native countries to serve as missionaries and pastors.
The advantage of students who return to their native countries to serve in ministry is that they already know the native language and culture. They are effective immediately upon arrival, not having to go through the process of language learning and cultural adaptation as do foreign missionaries. As we come to the close of this year, Edi and I thank each of you who partner with us in our international and cross-cultural missionary ministry. Your prayers, financial gifts, and partnership are a vital part of the ministry God has given us.
